💨 Abstract
Claudio Neves Valente, suspected of a shooting at Brown University and the killing of an MIT professor, had no known criminal record in the U.S. He attended Brown as a graduate student in physics from 2000 to 2001 and was not affiliated with the school at the time of the shooting. Investigators believe he targeted MIT professor Nuno Loureiro, whom he knew from a previous academic program in Portugal. The motive for the Brown University shooting remains unclear.
