💨 Abstract
Israel conducted airstrikes on Iran's Arak heavy water reactor, which could produce plutonium for nuclear weapons. The reactor was not operational and contained no nuclear material, so there was no radiological danger. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has expressed concerns about such sites being military targets, and Iran has maintained that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, although it has enriched uranium to high levels in the past.
