💨 Abstract
Xu Qiliang, a former Chinese air force general and close associate of President Xi Jinping, has died at 75. Xu served as a vice commissioner overseeing the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) during Xi's early years in power, helping to integrate the army and navy into the leadership. He was praised for his loyalty and contributions to modernizing the PLA, including replacing Cold War-era jets with stealth fighters.
