The U.S. sent five convicted criminals to Eswatini as part of an expansion of its third-country deportation program. These individuals, from Vietnam, Jamaica, Cuba, Yemen, and Laos, were deported after the Supreme Court allowed sending people to countries where they have no ties. Eswatini, a small African nation with about 1.2 million people, is ruled by King Mswati III and has a history of suppressing political dissent. The U.S.
