đź’¨ Abstract
After winning the Two Oceans Half-Marathon in April, runner William Kaptein faces a likely annulment of his victory due to a positive cannabis test. The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) imposed a one-month suspension, which Kaptein attributes to consuming cannabis unknowingly. Regardless of cannabis's legality, its use is banned for elite athletes. Appeals are still ongoing, but Kaptein anticipates reprieving from the competition.
